Texas Holdem No-Limit WSOP 2001
World Series of Poker 2001 was full of thrill and excitement. It was in the last minute the decision was made, who was the winner. Both the players had fair chance to win the tournament, but fate was with Mortensen, which allowed him to have a breath-taking win.
At the final, there were five players. Two of them were Phil Hellmuth and Carlos Mortensen. Among other three were Dewey Tomko, Stan Schrier and Phil Gordon. Before the “FLOP” there was about $150,000 in the pot. Hellmuth had with him QC, 10H. However, Mortensen sat with QD, JD. The “FLOP” came as QS, 9D and 4S. This allowed both of them to have a pair of “Q”. However, a JH and AS in the “TURN” and in the “RIVER” made Hellmuth to satisfy with the fifth place.
Finally, it was Mortensen and Tomko who were there till the last round. Mortensen had KC, QC and Tomko sat with AS, AH. Mortensen had 2-1 chip lead. The “FLOP” was JH, TC and 3C. This gave advantage to Mortensen as it made nut straight draw, king high flush draw and also two over cards. After betting for $400,000 Tomko called with last $1,500,000.
It was 3D on the “TURN” and slightly broke some hopes of Mortensen. But 9D on the “RIVER” allowed him to make the nut-straight combination. Thus Tomko became the runner-up for the second time and Mortensen became the winner and received $1,500,000.
Evaluations at Poker Nordica
I joined Poker Nordica, which was open to the US players and having being owned by the famous Casinokontanter. The Poker Nordica is fully registered under the authority of Kahnawake and operates with the Merge gaming network under official registration in Malta. The variety, availability and big stakes have been the prime features that have engrossed my attention.
The Poker Nordica has the initial benefit deposit facility of a bonus of 200% up to a total amount of $400 along with a freeroll coupon of bonus value $10,000. The variety of games comprises the conventional Texas Hold’em and Omaha (PL and NL), the unique Seven Card Stud, Five Card Stud, the Razz, the five card draws, Triple draw and Badugi.
The online gaming software package is quite up to the mark that allows simultaneous seven table competitions following the Merge network, suitably supports the multi tables and does not allow disconnections during the online contests. The graphics also promote 3D enhancements and customization functions for the extra game play options.
I have found that the traffic is usually around 8,000 during the peak hours especially with the Merge networking facilities.
With my first deposit in PokerNordica, there was an option for earning a 100% bonus on the deposits of $200! This meant that I had an option of earning free deposits in my account of $200. For every 75 VIP Points, I was getting $1 as a bonus and it was being paid in $10 of increment.
There are whole lists of promotional events that facilitate the continuous source of income. The efficient customer support facilities are also a big positive for this site with prompt and instant replies.
Deposit: Credit Card, FirePay, Bank Transfer, PaySafeCard, Moneybookers, UseMyBank, Citadel and ewalletXpress.
Credits: NETeller, Moneybookers, WireCard, EcoCard and Bank Draft.
There negative aspect of the lack of player presence outside the peak hours is soon expected to be resolved with the ongoing developments in Poker Nordica.
Andy Bloch
When I read that this Poker pro is a former ‘rock, paper, scissors’ champion, I almost didn’t take him seriously. But on reading that he is an electrical engineer from MIT and a JD from Harvard Law School, I suddenly wanted to read more.
This former member of the MIT Blackjack team started card tournaments by playing small blackjack tournaments. His Harvard degree was also financed by his blackjack winnings. He has over $4 Million in live career earnings but has never won the WSOP. He finished second in WSOP $50K HORSE Tournament in 2006 and in the $10K Pot-Limit Hold‘em Tournament in 2007. His full time professional poker career started in 1999 and before that he had been sticking to playing small weekly tournaments now and then.
He has had two final tables at the WPT and seven money finishes. He has won some other cash tournaments as well including the Pro-Am Poker Equalizer in 2006. Andy is popularly called “The Rock” as his mental strength is said to be very strong when playing poker. He is actively involved in charity work and even the money he earns from Full Tilt Poker is put to good causes.
Very recently at the 2008 National Heads-Up Poker championship he finished runners up to fellow Full Tilt poker player Chris Ferguson. Andy is a very versatile player and has a way with card games.
